I'm looking for some advice because I’m really stressed about my insurance situation. I recently got into a car accident that was my fault. The damage was minor, but the other party has now made a bodily injury claim as well.
About 5–10 minutes before the accident, I had completed a DoorDash delivery. I was still logged into the DoorDash app, but I was not on an active order anymore. After dropping off the order, I was driving for personal errands when the accident happened. I normally do DoorDash using another car that has a separate insurance policy, so I genuinely did not realize there could be an issue with this situation or that I needed a rideshare/delivery endorsement on my regular insurance policy.
During my conversation with GEICO, I mentioned that I do DoorDash, but usually on another vehicle. Now they are asking for my DoorDash login/credentials because they want to verify whether I was actively working at the time of the accident. I’m worried that if they see I was still online in the app, even though I was not actively delivering an order, they may deny my claim completely.
I’m trying to understand what my options are at this point. Do insurance companies usually treat being logged into DoorDash the same as actively delivering? Is it normal for them to ask for DoorDash credentials? Should I cooperate and provide screenshots/trip history instead of login information? And would it be smart to talk to an attorney now before giving more information?
I’m new to all of this and honestly didn’t understand how delivery/rideshare insurance worked until after this happened. Any advice or experiences would really help.

Your options are as follows:
Don’t give them what they want and they deny your claim and youre on the hook for everything personally.
Give them what they want, and same as above after they verify you were logged in.
I would suggest cooperating though because then you’ll have less red flags in the future that show up to all insurers.
