Im a community college student who wants get a dorm when they transfer. I have one year left of community college. I usually have class from 9am to 4pm. dorms are usually 6000 a semester. My parents are paying for tuition and refuse to pay for housing. I have experience in tutoring and graphic design and want to do only freelance work if possible. Is it possible to make enough money to pay for dorms? And enough to support myself while living in a dorm?
I have one year to save up for dorms after community college. How can I do that?

Can you save $12k plus whatever additional amount you need to support yourself in the next 12 months? Then yes, you can live in the dorms after you transfer next year. If you want to do it the year after that as well, you’ll need to keep up that same pace of work during your first transfer year as well.
If you can’t save enough to pay for the year in advance, it’s a bad idea. School may be too hard for you to work as much as you need to, and you don’t have any safety net because your parents won’t help with these costs.
