Hi everyone. Iʻm 20 years old and very new to the credit card world. But I want to get familiar with it now so I can build my credit early and capitalize on the benefits of credit cards sooner than later. Iʻve had a Discover It Student card with 2% on gas and restaurants for just about a year now. And I just received a Chase Freedom Unlimited.
Iʻve read about the Chase ecosystem but Iʻve seen that many people are not liking it as much nowadays. Iʻm taking over my dadʻs family business which does have me travel numerous times throughout the year so that is definitely a factor in finding the right card and benefits.
Should I have made any different choices? Is there any suggestions for cards in the future? Thank you in advance.
What credit cards to get at 20 years old?

Just get yourself a 2% card to start things off. Look Fidelity.
whats important when starting off on your cc route is to ensure you get cc’s that will be part of your life time (or nearly a big portion) credit history.
that means not getting 3rd party branded cc that may or may not be gone. but also not see much use other than very niche situations. and you also want one that has a strong banking history.
im talking about retail branded (best buy, macys, etc), but also Apple, robinhood, etc.
next, think about what you want with credit cards. is it to game the points system? simplicity? a mix? with that in mind, what does your spend habit and needs look like?
based on your current history and what you wrote, imo a VX sounds like a good fit. but further info will also be needed.
