If you had the money and you knew you never plan on leaving your city for anything or anyone because you have your established career in said city would it be wise to buy a house?
In life shit tends to happen, so I don’t think it is wise to go in saying you’ll never leave, however, in a vacuum I do think it would be wise. If you have the money, it is better to build equity into a property you own than giving the same or more to a landlord.

Nothing in life is guaranteed. But if you buy a normal property in a desirable part of town it is a pretty safe bet that you can do well.
Property appreciates and stabilizes your monthly housing costs.
If you are heavily averse to chores or the added work of managing the maintenance of your own property that would be the biggest downside.
