It seems like a lot of people who stay in Bitcoin long enough eventually change their perspective on at least one major topic.

Sometimes it’s self-custody, regulation, mining, long-term adoption or even the role Bitcoin could play globally.

Curious what Bitcoin opinion or assumption you used to strongly believe but later changed your mind about after learning more.

What’s a Bitcoin opinion you had years ago that changed completely over time?

“Bitcoin is bad for the environment”.

Actually, in a fiat death scenario, Bitcoin being our money would be great for the climate. Fiat needs constant expansion. More “growth”, more investment, more consumption. Over consumption is directly attributable to our need for growth.

    2. I used to think you just had to be right about the direction and you’d make money. Over time I realized timing and emotions matter way more. You can be right and still lose if you’re early or too aggressive. Now I care more about managing risk than trying to catch every move

That it’s just ”one of the cryptos”.

      Bitcoin is THE crypto.

Naively, I thought it could change the world – defi and democratization of finance etc.

Now I think it’s a pump & dump, crying for insitutional daddy to come and save it…

    5. My thesis 5 years ago was, “people like to gamble, and they will gamble on this. It could be priced at any number, and there are many numbers higher than the current price, so I’ll get some and wait for another pump”. And now I think it’s a somewhat inevitable long term black hole of value.
