Hi guys! Looking for some thoughts on my current lineup. Some disclaimers I'll get out of the way first:
- I know it's entirely made of no-fee cards. Where I'm at in my life right now, I don't find myself flying that often (and stay in hotels even less), so have found much more use from cashback cards rather than going for something like Venture X for crazy miles that will take a long time to earn and even longer to use. Open to feedback here though
- Definitely some goofy ones in there. Some are leftover from early credit card setups that became pretty much redundant but still serve a purpose. Trust that every card has its place, even if seldom used
Here's the setup:
- Bilt for 2.3x everything
Great catch-all. Honestly I understand why this isn't recommended as the simple catch-all for people over other lesser 2x cards with its confusing structure, but having been with the Bilt 1.0 for a while, I'm well in their system now, and love using this where everything else fails.
- Citi Custom Cash for 5x dining
Usually don't spend more than $500 a month on dining, so this card is as good as it gets for dining on a fee-free card
- PayPal Debit for 5x grocery (including Walmart and Target)
Even though this is a debit card, this should've been pushed way more as an option for good rewards on grocery as it includes Walmart and Target, but now that their points might not be as versatile in a couple months, other worse cards must rise to the occasion
- US Bank Altitude Connect for 4x travel, 4x gas, 5x hotels, 5x car rental
Dope card to fill the travel holes when I do end up traveling, as well as giving Priority Passes to use throughout the year
- WF Attune for 4x entertainment, 4x gym, 4x public transit, 4x thrift stores, 4x barber
This is one of those goofy ones. Got it when Wells Fargo was my only banking and credit hub. Honestly doesn't do much for me outside of concert tickets, random fitness/wellness things and the odd thrift haul. Too spotty on what codes for each category to rely on for most things, but kinda a fun one to keep with me
- Amex Blue Cash Everyday for 3x online
Honestly just wanted a card for amazon purchases and other random big ticket items I'll buy online
- WF Autograph for 3x Uber/Lyft, 3x parking
Kind of a holdover from the WF days as well. Used to be a decent lifestyle card with good dining and travel rewards, now just sits in my sock drawer for Ubers and random parking fees
That's what we got. A little all over the place, but being able to do almost 5x for a lot of my spending with no annual fees is pretty sick imo.
Some cards I'm looking to add:
- I'd probably add some more Citi Custom Cash's to 5x travel or entertainment or groceries when Paypal gets nerfed
- I've heard of the State Farm Premier Rewards for 3x on insurance payments. For something I spend hundreds on a month (health, auto, renters), seems like a worthwhile card imo
- Don't pay for the utilities at the moment, but US Bank Cash+ seems like it could be useful for 5x monthly utilities when that comes to my plate. Also 5x gym when I need to get a membership somewhere
Ok, let me have it
Roast my credit card lineup!

this setup goes hard
US Bank Cash+ is indeed useful for 5X monthly utilities. I use it for my electric, water, and natural gas bills.
The Attune looks like a great option if your gym codes correctly (mine doesn’t). I haven’t chosen to get one because of the coding issues you noted.
I think you should look harder at the VX. If you spend $300 on travel a year (easy to do with a two-night hotel stay most places), the card justifies itself. The SUB is excellent, and you don’t have to use the miles for travel if you don’t want to. You can cash them out as a statement credit instead.
Very good setup and no annual fees! I feel like you’re well covered.
I suppose some minor improvements could be:
* US Bank Cash+: You mentioned utilities, but you could also use it for rideshare for the 5% vs the 3x back on Autograph. I’m not sure how much you value WF points though.
* Any 5% back card for gas if that’s a high spend category.
* Amazon Prime Visa: Potentially for 5% on Amazon vs the 3% back on BCE.
