Why is it still so high?
Yes, because they are telling us to endure pain with promise of a better future that is beyond the horizon. We can’t see it. How many years out is this manufacturing Renaissance? And will the working class benefit from it if they can’t afford anything these factories are making? Remember, their issue is the trade deficit. These theoretical products are for export.
Tariffs will not make things cheaper or create jobs, that’s just a fact. But Trump said the opposite and people just believed him. Trump then got his followers to believe government services are bad or just a waste. Government services is was keeps you safe on the job, it keeps the products you buy to a certain standard, let’s you know terrible weather is on the way, protects land and water, and so much more. I think this all happened because people are nieve and unable to put 2 and 2 together. It seems 70% of people understand things are bad but I don’t know if they know why.
