I’m 35. I live in the DFW (Grand Prairie). Full time local truck driver. No debt. Eligible for VA loan. I’m the guy in my family that people come to for financial advice. So, I’m looking for an audit, so to speak. I earn about 99,000-102,000 annually, paid weekly. My rent is 1,300 a month. It was 1559, but we’re moving to a smaller unit within the complex next week. My 13 year old daughter lives with me, nothing new. She has great grades and takes advanced math classes, so I’d say she’s on track for a scholarship or community college or trade school are options. I’m not on child support. 2 cars paid off. A 2011 Honda and 1996 impala.

I ran a rent vs buy calculator from nerd wallet and the calculator says it’s cheaper for me to rent. I don’t have much desire to buy as it’s only my daughter and I.

Anyone 10 or 20 years older than me have any experience with not buying a home and investing in the S&P 500? I invest 4% (automatically increasing by 1% annually in November) in my 401K Roth with a 3% match and 535-635 in my Roth IRA a month. 5,000 in a vanguard savings account. I’m open to any advice or wisdom for those that have been there, done that.

    Thank you!
