That is how the USA now treats its ‘allies’. And that is why every country in its right mind wants out of the relationship

Yeah, what country in their right mind would want to trade with the world’s largest economy?

    2. Trump is such a frustratingly short term thinker. He looks at the position the US holds in the world, sees a power imbalance in their favour, and thinks every other leader was just too stupid to take advantage of that. He doesn’t understand or particularly care that other countries won’t put up with that and will quickly move to minimise US leverage. And when this is the relationship you’re now in with the *entire world*, it doesn’t bode well for the future of your country. And there aren’t even any great upsides! The US hasn’t gained anything that matters and tariffs and just making inflation even worse.

“Not all were publicly confirmed”. (Look at disclaimers in fine print at bottom) I hate Trump as much as anyone but I’ve not seen any proof of this being real thus far

      * **Cheaper Tech and Online Shopping:** Lowering de minimis thresholds (Point 12) means you could order goods from U.S. online retailers tax-free and duty-free, leading to cheaper prices on everyday items.
      * More Streaming and Media Choices: Eliminating CanCon quotas (Point 5) means streaming services like Netflix or Spotify would show you content based purely on popularity and your algorithm, rather than forcing Canadian content into your feeds.
      * **Cheaper Groceries:** Dismantling supply management (Point 7) would likely result in an immediate drop in the price of milk, cheese, chicken, and eggs at the grocery store.

    5. As an American, that has got to be the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen America try to do

As a U.S.ed up citizen, I want to apologize to our Canadian friends. There’s a lot of people in America that get fooled into voting against their own best interests or just want someone else to realize their worst impulses, so they can pretend to be “nice people.”

    7. Right… these terms are treating Canada as a vassal state.
Who could have predicted this deal would fall through

As a Canadian I am so saddened for the USA. We all grew up looking at your culture through the glass and so much of who we are is based on the best parts of capitalism, democracy, and everybody having a chance to make it not to mention pop culture. I am hopeful we will find our way back there.
