“False. While the IRGC did turn back a US-owned tanker in May 2026, there is no record in the provided context of a US-owned tanker being turned back by the IRGC in the few hours preceding October 13, 2026, despite US Air Force presence.

Recent incidents in October 2026 involving US military presence include:

October 10, 2026: US Central Command disabled a Panama-flagged vessel (Ocean Molica) attempting to bypass a US blockade, not an IRGC turn-back.
October 12–13, 2026: The IRGC claimed to have targeted and struck oil tankers that had switched off navigation systems, but these were not described as US-owned vessels operating under US air cover in the immediate prior hours.

July 31, 2026: The IRGC struck two oil tankers traveling under US air cover, but this occurred months ago, not in the last few hours.

The specific scenario of a US-owned tanker being turned back by the IRGC despite US Air Force presence in the immediate recent past (October 13, 2026) is not supported by the search results.”

The ‘air craft’ in the region was a KC-46 pegasus. A transport air craft. I like how the tweet is framed to make it look like a full escort

    3. Its funny US owned tankers turn back peacefully but force foreign tankers to transit even though they know theyre gonna get shot

    4. I’m SO curious what it looks like onboard a non-iran-aligned ship attempting to transit the strait these days. Do they send most of the crew off the bridge to more resilient rooms within the ship? Just the captain and first mate standing watch? Does the crew don firefighting gear, get hoses connected and laid out, in the event they need them? I imagine it’s a massive ass pucker situation on those ships, and not for a short period of time. Fuck all that business. I would need to be guaranteed retirement-level lump sum pay to even do that once. I can only imagine the scumbag shit going on towards third world crews that don’t have much agency. I think I read they get double pay in the strait, not for the entire voyage, but prorated for the hours actually spent in the strait. All while the trillion-dollar US military cowers a thousand miles away from the war they started in the middle of the indian ocean.
