I got scammed out of 1 eth and the person used a mixer to clean the money, really dont see the point of a coin mixer besides cleaning money.

It’s funny people in the crypto space are talking about banning anything. It’s code; it will exist regardless of legality. There are already several decentralized obfuscation technologies out there that do the same thing. Anonymous transactions is going to be part of the crypto world.

I saw that original content from Kevin O'Leary on Crypto Banter. I was infuriated. To me Kevin is a johnny-come-lately in crypto who just sees it as a way to make his own personal wealth grow. None of the original idealism. So his opinion seems definitely of the establishment and I agree with some commentators that the dream of crypto was to not be beholden to the cabal that controls us – basically the extremely wealthy and the central banks. What Philip K Dick might call "The Adjustment Bureau". Great ideas always get co-opted by these forces, and forced into their mold, so that they maintain control. Tornado Cash and mixers in general are trying to protect privacy – the sort of privacy that corporations might value in fact. Remember the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution? To sanction an open source protocol is ridiculous and total overreach by the US Treasury. If they get away with this they could just as easily sanction Bitcoin – what a solution to keeping Central Banks (which are NOT elected, but private corporations) in control of monetary policy. If Kevin O'Leary considers himself a member of "the crypto community" then his remarks are high treason to that community.

Kevin will shoot himself in the foot for profits. In fact, sacrificing decentralized financial privacy, and allowing crypto to be fully captured by regulation, will eliminate the need for blockchain in it's entirety. What is the point of blockchain if just another regulated database with no privacy. No faster way to kill the industry.
America needs to go back and examine why we're giving the government the power to control the movement of currency in the first place. It was originally to stop money laundering from the drug trade. Drug decriminalization would have removed the need for any federal intrusion into financial privacy (AML).
