A new Economic Times report has once again put the focus on the possibility of a blanket ban on cryptocurrencies in India. The report says that India is looking to introduce a law to ban cryptocurrencies. The Indian government reckons that a legal framework will be more effective than an RBI circular. The Finance Ministry has also moved a cabinet note to facilitate inter-ministerial consultations. The cabinet note comes just a couple of months after the Supreme Court judgment which lifted the RBI banking ban on crypto businesses. So, is this a new development or is it the same old news bein peddled yet again? We explore in our video.
