The out-of-the-blue pumps of meme-coins never fail to startle the crypto space. Amid the broader upswing saga, many such coins have been faring exceptionally well recently. And among them, SHIBA has been stealing the thunder lately
This coin has bounced by double digits in just October. People from the meme-coin community are being as nutty as a fruitcake watching these mind-boggling numbers from Shiba.
After Shiba showed its performance of a lifetime earlier this month,
Spotify, YouTube, Tidal, or Deezer have now introduced a feature by which Shiba holders can burn SHIB without destroying their coins but just by listening to a playlist.
Steven Cooper, the co-owner of the music licensing and publishing group Bigger Entertainment, reported his company formed a playlist that will burn around 20 SHIB per song streamed. With 397 songs totaling 23 hours of music, a full playlist stream of ‘SHIB BURNER’ could burn 7940 SHIB.
The artists at Bigger Entertainment let the company use up to 20% of their royalties to buy and burn Shib. Cooper says he wants to burn at least $100,000 in SHIB from the playlist.
SHIB burning continues to be the key talking point within the ‘SHIBArmy’. With a circulating supply of nearly 500 trillion SHIB, a significant SHIB burn is needed to knock more zeroes off its current price of $0.000027.
At first, Cooper announced each stream would burn one SHIB before raising the rate, after considering this too small. If SHIB continues to rise in price, the number of SHIB burned will also decrease, Cooper said.
The company has yet to burn SHIB from the streams, with Cooper affirming all burns will be issued on the Bigger Entertainment website. The burns, which will be monthly, can be confirmed by checking either of the SHIB burn addresses too.
When questioned whether this violates the terms of service of Spotify, Cooper said:
“We are not inflating streams, giving any sort of gift to a person, encouraging false streams, etc. We are simply marketing a playlist. Similar to if a playlist donated a portion of their proceeds to a charity. We simply chose to burn coins with it.”
