Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but thought someone on here might know:). So I have some homegrown eggs from a relative. They are picked daily, rinsed, labeled with date and refrigerated, but i think sometimes sit on counter in cool house day or 4 in between picking and rinsing/refrigerating.
I was worried they were getting old. I did the float test, they stood upright, but did not float. I assume they are ok to cook and eat? About how much longer till they go "bad"? They are labeled picked 6/30/25. Thanks!

Old eggs? Picked 6/30/25, set upright in cold water

    1. They are fine if they aren’t floating. And sitting out on the counter if not washed is no problem.

    2. They are probably fine. If you’re going to boil them crack the oldest one and smell it. You’ll know if they’re bad.

    3. Not sure how long until they go bad, but I’ve used a billion eggs like this and they’re fine. I’d prefer they lay down flat, but they’re still perfectly fine if they stand to attention – just as long as they’re not trying to reach the surface.
