    1. Why would you EVER trust ANY third party to babysit your coins? Haven’t we issued enough thousands of warnings not to do this?

If you don’t have the keys, they’re not your coins. And if they’re not your coins, whoever’s coins they are can pretty much do as they please.

I’d be trying to get the coins out of there and into text wallets you actually own.

They’re charging you a holding fee for doing absolutely nothing (aside from being the stewards of the private key for your wallet)? It belongs to them – because you basically gave it to them – and they’re just playing games with you now because they know that you are powerless. Unlike real banks that are accountable to government regulations (in countries where banking has serious regulations, like here in Canada), there are no regulators that can arbitrarily force corrective transactions — at best, you might be able to sue them to get the value of your cryptocurrency back, which you could then use to buy again and make things right.

Next time, keep your private keys in a safe place (such as in a Safety Deposit box at a bank), and then you won’t have to pay scammers for “holding fees” or whatever other schemes they dream up to steal other peoples’ money.
