Most of what comes up on YouTube when I search for "entrepreneurship" is straight-up garbage:
- Hypey “be your own boss” motivational rants
- Trendy “get rich quick” schemes
- Thinly veiled ads to funnel you into a paid course
- Or tech/startup-only advice that doesn’t always apply to running an actual business in real life
I’m not looking for that.
I am hoping for YouTube channels or videos that actually teach the real side of entrepreneurship, whether that’s running a local business, building systems, managing cash flow, dealing with people, or learning from the hard lessons of failure and adaptation.
Basically, how to actually think and operate like an entrepreneur in both online and offline contexts.
If you’ve found any channels or video series that aren’t just lies or trendy BS, but genuinely helped you understand entrepreneurship, I’d love to hear your recommendations.
Any genuine YouTube channels/videos on real entrepreneurship? (Not course-selling BS)

Don’t know how people feel about him here but i’ve found that some of alex hormozi’s advice actually helps me in my business alot.
You may check Simon Squibb as well. It has some pretty good insights.
If you are smart, you can just read the book. This course is for lazy people who like to hear the ending without understanding the process of formation.
I haven’t found any to exist. YCombinator has some good videos. Lean Canvas model is good. Steve Blank is good.
I think the reality of why there are no real entrepreneurship videos is because #1, most people figure everything out on the fly, so a video showing you have no idea what you’re actually doing might not come off great.
The old adage of building a plane on the way down is true.
And there’d probably be a lot of harash language and truths that come about that a lot of people don’t like hearing.
Founders Podcast
You can check out Noah Kagan’s channel (he shares real numbers + mistakes), Codie Sanchez for biz buying, and even CNBC Make It for practical case studies.
also like Y Combinator’s talks, yeah it’s startup-y, but some vids go deep on systems + mindset.
I hope it helps though
There probably are, but they get drowned out by all the influencers that work the algorithm properly and get suggested to random people. It’s definitely needed, but some owners need to realize their process is broken first for them to seek help or be accepting of help. I’m around a ton of local businesses and can usually spot their issues quickly whether it’s a bad operations process or lack of customers. Nobody likes to be told their sister is ugly, so I usually have to be extremely careful of what I say.
Another commenter mentioned the “building the plane as it’s flying” metaphor and it’s 100% true sometimes. Most local owners I’ve run into are of the mindset that because it’s still airborne, what they’re doing isn’t too bad. They’ll only try something different when they’re clipping treetops.
I say the space is open, because I see a lot of people exiting the workforce and not finding a way back in quickly. Some don’t need to be their own boss, but some absolutely should be and that’s who needs help. *The $100 Startup* was a huge book for me and I’d love to have a video series or live versions of that info for people to absorb.
following
If you’re in the startup space rather than traditional entrepreneurship, the Founders’ Group YT channel has a bunch of good wisdom. The production quality is minimal but the insights are gold.
Alex Hormozi’s channel, he breaks down real business concepts without the hype
“3.7 million” is a guy that i watch sometimes, he tries out different popular sidehustles, and breaks down how much he made. Very realistic and no bs.
