I just recently moved into a studio apartment in Dallas about a week ago. I was installing a bidet on my toilet and one of the screws for the pipe was really tight so i gave it a good tug for it to come off and water started spraying everywhere. My bathroom and part of my living space was flooded with around a quarter inch of water, and the unit next door also had water in their unit.

The maintenance guys told me they can’t assess the damage right now as it happened like an hour ago, but for now everything has been cleaned up and there is dehumidifiers in my unit.

Will my renters insurance be able to cover this? I am a financially independent college student and it’s hard to pay for my education and living, so a big repair cost will be devastating.

    I have lemonade renters insurance.

Flooded my studio apartment just now.

    1. We can’t read your policy for you, but it would be covered in the Liability section. You should read that and the section’s exclusions carefully.

    2. I think damage to others property like the unit will be covered up to the limit you carry, same for your stuff if you carry contents (subject to deductible) But, you need to speak with lemonade. Let us know how it goes please!
