My elderly mom and I both escaped from my abusive dad a few months ago. She recently started the divorce. I am looking for more stable housing and a job while we are living in temporary accommodation.
Thinking ahead for tax season… so …. do I claim her as my dependent? I am not sure how long their divorce will take, but what if my psycho dad tries to claim her as her dependent next year? Is there anything I should be wary of?
Also, he assaulted me earlier this year because I didn't want to be his dependent on his tax returns. His accountant fibbed on my tax return saying I was a "computer programmer" or some random sht like that. I am not really sure what to do about that since he basically forced me to let his accountant do the taxes. Ugh this is such a mess.
