For the past 3 days I’ve been trying to call the IRS, and I can’t get through at all. I’ve spent hours on hold, only to get kicked out of the line. I tried different times of the day (morning, afternoon, even late), but it’s always the same — either a robot tells me they’re too busy, or the call just ends.

At this point I’m wondering: is anyone else going through this? Or is it just me being unlucky? I really need to get my CP575/147C letter sorted, but the IRS feels impossible to reach right now.

Any tips from people who managed to actually talk to a rep?

Is it just me or is it impossible to reach the IRS right now?

    1. You have everyone in the U S of A trying to call. Thats how its been regardless of who is running the country. Dont call first thing in the morning thats when everyone is calling. Best time to call is after 330pm your local time.

It is always difficult to call the IRS unless you are a tax professional especially around tax deadlines like 4/15, 9/15, and 10/15.

I got through to them with a 30 minute wait today. Maybe it just depends on which part of the IRS you are calling?
