It’s been received by the IRS. Each time I call the person says be patient, a decision is pending.
It (refund) was supposed to be received by me in March.
Every time I call I have to go through hoops to explain my situation which is not odd in anyway.
I filed, I’m due a refund, it’s not happening. It’s a significant refund. +$10k.
I feel like it’s lost in a loop that they won’t push it out. No fraud, no bizarre complicated circumstances. It’s really weird.
I now live overseas, ringing in the middle of the night is annoying every month or two.
I assume the shutdown isn’t helping this month.
What else can I do? Report it as a scam and see if that will push it to review and make a decision?
Tax refund 7 months over due no decision

Are you able to access your online account transcript for 2024?
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
Yeah… I’m going to guess your return has some foreign filings which means it goes to a specific unit that is either wwaaaayyy understaffed or incredibly slow. Even having foreign tax withholding (which is pretty common) will bump you into their system. I’m currently monitoring 4 amended returns stuck in this department and sadly except it to take a year + for clients to get their refunds.
I’d recommend saving your time on calling and just check your tax transcripts from the IRS website.
