Hey everyone. Can someone recommend a resource (book, youtube, whatever) for someone just starting to do his own taxes? I have 2 jobs (one is 1099, one is W2) which complicates things.
I am not trying to be a buzzkill here, but you might want to consider using a professional. Yes, you will probably be able to complete the forms and file your taxes and you will feel good about that, But it comes down to the question of “would you want to represent yourself in court” or would you want to give yourself that annual physical….and then when you get a letter from the IRS, it may be too late, thus causing some financial consternation.

BTW: You do NOT “have 2 jobs”; you have 1 job, and also own 1 small business.

Is your AGI ~70k or less? Find a VITA tax prep location and have them do it for you…for free. And then observe what they do.

Because of 1099 income, I’m not aware of any free tax software. The VITA suggestion is a good one.
I’d just use TurboTax and carefully read the instructions.
P.S. If you have access to ChatGPT, that’d also be a place to ask detailed about stuff in your return.
The wiki at r/personalfinance is pretty excellent
