At my job, we usually receive our paychecks through direct deposit on Thursdays, but I get mine 1 day early on Wednesday because I use Sofi. Our next paycheck is due on Jan 1st 2026, however the balance would hit my bank account on Dec 31st, 2025. So which year would this income belong to?
I believe they usually file the ACH payment on the Tuesday, so that would be Dec 30th, 2025.

It’s the official pay date from your employer. Your early paycheck from your bank doesn’t matter.
It’s whatever the pay date (not pay period) on your paystub is. However, the 1st is a holiday, so the pay date may be shifted.
