NYS [Not NYC] for context. Bought a new house, i know you get credit from interest somewhere. I also bought ~3k worth of insulation materials since the basement was gutted due to mold and it was freezing. I had to get my roof replaced cause it was 25 years old as well. There was an electrical repair that had to get done as well and a plumbing repair.

I did have a second job for a bit before getting laid off (it was for side cash, i made sure to over-deduct taxes as if job 2 came off the highest bracket portion).

My father told me to get a CFA this year instead of doing it myself but insofar as I know thats super expensive and probably not worth it since it'll chunk what I get back.

Insofar as I know all that has to be filled (in terms of new to me) is, Federal form for the insulation reimbursement, NYS insulation reimbursement(?), Mortgage interest. And I am not entirely sure if i get anything back from the nessessary home repairs or roof.

How much did you pay in interest on the home? Property tax? Are you single or married?

From the info you presented so far, it sounds like a pretty simple return. Repairs to your home you live in do not affect your taxes. Just things that qualify you for energy saving credits or the like, and software can walk you through that.
