I get paid electronically but have no forms or anything. I had no taxable income in 2025. I did the IRS tax interview thing and it said no but I wanted to double check. I get medicaid but they accept that I have no proof of income.

Do i need to file if I only babysit?

Maybe. It depends mainly on how much money you made and what kind of work it is. For example, if you’re someone’s household employee (the usual thing for babysitters in somebody else’s home), the threshold would be much higher than for someone who is self-employed (what is usual if you take care of children in your own home). That’s because the employer has to withhold Social Security and Medicare taxes, which have a very low threshold compared to income tax, while self-employed people calculate this themselves and pay it with their tax returns.

if the irs tool said no, you’re probably fine. unless you make over a certain amount, casual babysitting income usually doesn’t need to be reported. but keep track just in case.
