i filed my federal and state taxes roughly ten or so days ago. today i got a deposit of $577 from the us treasury. this was neither the amount of my state or federal refund and when i go to the irs to track my refund it's not showing that it's been processed and even so i checked my direct deposit from last year and it showed as 'irs treas tax refund' while this just simply says 'us treasury' ?? i thought maybe i goofed somewhere and they adjusted my refund amount but there's no way they processed my refund in less than ten days. i file around the same time every year and have used the same bank acount for years and it has always taken roughly three weeks from the time i file for the refund to be deposited. i'm just confused as to what this could be ?

Probably somebody else made a mistake when entering their bank account number, and their refund got deposited to your account. You can call your bank and tell them that it was a deposit made in error. If they can’t do anything about it, just leave it in your account. Hopefully the IRS will reverse it eventually and send it to the person it belongs to.
Your bank is suppose to cross reference the name of the deposit to your bank account.
