Which state?
Do you have kids?
Which state?
No idea. But that seems very strange.
Married? Any children?
$7000 back from STATE? Which state? On your W-2, what numbers do you see in the state line (Lines 15 onward)? What did you enter in your tax software? Double check the entry section for that W-2.
General advice – if you’re not certain of exactly what’s on your tax return, do not file it until you are. After all, you sign the return, attesting to its accuracy “under penalty of perjury.”
Yes, you probably had more taken out than you should have, per your low income. It could certainly be a correct amount.
Seems very high for state
How much state tax did you have withheld? That’s seems quite high.
How did you possibly pay so much on an $18K salary to be getting that much back? Colorado has a flat 4.4% state income tax. Doesn’t make sense.
Look at your actual state tax return, what seems to be creating the overpayment. Look at your W2 state withholding. Does it match your tax return?
You have an extra 0 in there. CO tax 4.4%is $792 on $18000.
How much did you have withheld with Colorado state tax? It’s pretty easy to calculate since it’s 4.4%
If it were me I would look at another tax website. I use freetaxusa and it’s always been correct . But I feel there is an error in there somewhere.. 7k seems more like a fed return vs a state return…
