I recently got my own room, but I don’t have much money for a bed frame.
I also don’t have much space but I was gifted a queen bed so I wanted a loft bed..but most of the ones I see for queens are pretty pricey and not sure if the ones are Amazon are good.
If I can’t find a good loft bed for a queen thats less costly I thought a canopy or simple design would be good, so I choose some of the ones I like.
Has anyone bought these and do they have any opinions of them? I’ve never really bought furniture on Amazon so I don’t really know how to choose.
If Amazons a bad choice, I thought Ikea would be better so I chose one on there too. Does anyone have any opinions?

I’m not loving that the middle leg is so visible on the two middle photos, wish that support was only in the center beam
Amazon furniture, I have found surprisingly okay. I have ordered chests of drawers, bookcases, and shelving units. It is not the most sturdy but very reasonable for the price. Amazon came through for us when we moved house and needed specific sizes that Ikea could not do within our budget.
However, you need to read the reviews. QC is not the best – little chips, paint drops, and slight mismatch etc is common – and it is not forgiving to take apart if you have screwed into wood. You get what you pay for. If you are heavy or like to throw yourself in your bed, I would not pick it. It will not last as long or as well as some of the sturdier Ikea pieces.
I would rate low end Ikea as similar to Amazon furniture but higher quality Ikea is always better and will last longer and age better. It also has some small residual sale value that Amazon will not.
Ikea has a better return policy and customer support. It also tends to have better instructions in my experience.
The ones my ex bought from Amazon were absolute junk. I’ve had decent luck w IKEA and Jeff Bezos makes my skin crawl.
Yeah if you’re okay with your furniture not having a weird swedish name you can call it as if it was sentient
i think the cheapest way is to get a used one on marketplace, furniture there is cheap af usually.
EDIT: And can be of high quality, i got a solid wood table which would have cost me1000-2000$ for 150$.
In fact i would say it’s the best option to get quality stuff.
I built my bedframe with some black iron pipe nipples, 2x4s and 2x6s like 6 years ago and it has withstood my fat ass and my husband with absolutely no issue. No creaking, no cracking, solid as fuck. Only damage is my cat treats it like a cat scratcher but honestly idc because it was left unfinished.
Probably less than $150 in supplies and took me half a day because Im only kinda handy. If you’re interested I just followed a youtube video
Buy used (FB Marketplace, Craigslist, thrifted). Amazon furniture is garbage. IKEA is a good option but you can definitely find better deals out there if you’re patient.
I have the MALM frame from Ikea and it’s holding up well. I’ve had it for 9 years.
With Ikea you know what kind of quality to expect. Amazon, not ao much. Could be better, could be worse but you don’t know until you get it and put it all together.
As someone else said, check marketplace. I got my sofa set for $300, it was brand new, just didn’t match the seller’s new house. There are steals like that all the time.
I have a cheapo Amazon bed frame (the kind where you can find the same product on wayfair, overstock and amazon under different names) and I won’t buy another one like that. It was cheap and it feels it. It has been squeaky since day 1.
I have had several ikea bed frames, ranging from the cheapest one they sell, up to the pricier ones. IKEA bed frames are great and solid. They are well engineered and they sell millions of them. If there is one accessible to you I would recommend that route 100%.
A few pallets stacked up works great. We’re talking frugal right?
Look up estate sales in your area. You can get some amazing bed frames and furniture for cheep there
Honestly look for a steel basic frame at a goodwill or even craiglist. Ppl toss them.
They aren’t pretty, but they last forever and you can add a headboard or footboard as you go.
If frugal is what you want you can get an adjustable metal bed frame for under $100 at Walmart/Target/Costco/Etc. Then save up for what you really want.
You can get something better quality that will last for the same price or cheaper if you go secondhand. Habitat ReStore, estate sales, Facebook marketplace, antique/salvage shops, etc.
IKEA
Go with Ikea. You can get real wood options for very cheap if that’s your preference. There’s more consistency with respect to quality control. If a part is missing or whatever issue then they are, from my experience, easy to deal with.
Ikea. I’ve had so much rough sex on mine that a cheap Amazon one would fall apart l.
I’ve had 3 amazon beds each about $300, all broke, cheap frames. I got one for like $250 on wayfair now it’s holding up wonderfully. It’s a metal frame, with hydraulics that lift it up very easily so I can store stuff under it
Amazon has a terrible reputation for ethics, for tax avoidance, supplier exploitation, environmental damage, and especially worker welfare.
The Ikea near me has a buyback/secondhand sale section to keep some furniture out of landfills.
Ikea is the clear winner, if I’m not buying from a local shop.
I don’t have any guys
