i misplaced my w2 and am trying to figure out how to get a new one. when i follow the guides online for how to get a w2 from the irs website, it gives me all of the federal info, but all of the state info is missing. I know that this probably seems like a dumb question, but how can i get a w2 that includes the state information? I know for a fact that my paychecks were deducted for state taxes

W2 from IRS website has boxes 12-20 grayed out

You need to check with the state involved. The IRS doesn’t gather state info.

      Each state does it differently.

Or, ask your employer. That’s the best way in most cases.

    2. The IRS income transcripts only track the info relevant to your federal income taxes. If you need a full copy of your W2 or the state information, your state tax agency might be able to provide you a similar transcript with the same information. If not, you’d need to [get a copy of your W-2 from the SSA](https://www.ssa.gov/faqs/en/questions/KA-02501.html) (for a fee). Obviously, the most straightforward solution is to simply ask your employer for another copy.

Can you find the relevant information from a final paystub?
