So I am an immigrant and this is the first time doing taxes ever. I used the FreeTaxUSA because my coworker told me so and everything was super easy to do! I should be receiving ~700 of tax refund (or return still don’t know the difference)! But one thing doesn’t get out of my mind what if I do a mistake? Do I go straight to the jail or pay a huge ass fee? That’s definitely scary but is lovely how this tax money will help me to pay my tuition anyway!

The irs only cares if you under report, meaning you owe them money. Even if they somehow found out they would just make you pay the amount back with a fee and probably interest, if it’s not something like hundreds of thousands
