I see there is a "Where's my refund?" tool if you are owed a refund, but if I paid additional, what's the best way to verify ultimate approval?

Do I need to look at the tax transcript instead for something else? Does the IRS ever let you know it's been accepted or is it just presumed if you file and don't hear anything that it was approved?

How do you know if your tax return was ultimately accepted when you owe?

If you open an IRS account, you can look up to see if the IRS is processing your return..

    2. You don’t get any acknowledgement of processing and approval – just the initial acceptance or rejection. You’ll hear from them if something is wrong or if you didn’t pay what was due on time.
