I’m 26 and still living with them. I have a W2 and 1099NEC. I am trying to file single bcuz I didn’t do any quarterly tax payments towards my self employment. I made close to $20k in total.

Based on my research, I can’t be claimed as a dependent at all. I’m too old for the qualifying child and I made well over the IRS gross income limit for qualifying relative.

However, my dad is so adamant on claiming me as a dependent for some reason. He keeps asking me for my 1098T even though he didn’t pay any of my tuition last year. I keep trying to explain to him that I can’t be claimed as a dependent but he keeps saying that I’m wrong and am still a dependent bcuz I live with him. Is that true?? How should I go about this?

My parents believe they can still claim me as a dependent but I don’t think they can. Who is right here?
