I was reading this in a newsletter and it kinda got me thinking, imagine you’re choosing between two sunglasses, they look almost identical, feel the same, same materials, same durability. one is Ray-Ban, the other is Chanel but the Chanel one is 2–3x more expensive

so what are you actually paying for at that point? because it’s not really the product anymore, it’s the brand, the perception, maybe how it makes you feel wearing it. which is interesting because we all say we care about “value”, but clearly a lot of buying decisions aren’t just about utility.

some people will still pick Chanel without thinking twice others wouldn’t touch it because it feels like overpaying

so curious, do you think luxury is genuinely about better products, or are we mostly just paying for the story around it? and more importantly, would you pay that premium?

would you pay ₹30k for Chanel sunglasses if Ray-Bans were the same quality?

Search luxottica and see why glasses prices are fucked. Just buy generic glasses dont fall for the brands

They are made by the same company (Luxottica), so I think that is your answer.

    4. Ray Bans. Quality material and hold the adjustment better

    5. I would not pay for either. You can buy sunglasses for much much less money than either of those.
