I have some self inflicted scratches covering two panels. shops are quoting 3-4k for repair.

How much have your rates gone up for using an auto policy for non-accident related body work?

    debating self pay or insurance.

Idk if this helps but one time I used emergency roadside and my premium skyrocketed, I had to swap carriers. I feel like if you can easily afford it then self pay is probably better but others might have a different opinion

      Do the math.

If they raise your rates by 20%, for 5 years, how much money will that be?

Generally speaking, you have the right idea, you shouldn’t poison your claim history, to keep your car looking good.

How did you get these scratches? If it was more than one incident it’s more than one claim, and more than one deductible.
