Random thought I had:
Chase trifecta basically covers:
- catch all (1.5x)
- dining
- travel
- rotating 5% (Freedom)
Capital One already kinda has:
- Venture X → 2x catch all + travel
- Savor → food
Now with Discover it Cash Back (after the Discover deal), that could be the rotating 5% piece.
So in theory:
- 2x everything
- 3x food
- travel perks
- 5% rotating categories
That’s basically a trifecta… just with a higher baseline but worse travel?
Obviously rewards aren’t combined right now, but do you think that’s where they’re heading?
Or is Discover just gonna stay its own thing?
Is Capital One trying to build a Chase trifecta?

Well my Discover It Miles already converted to Capital One and it does have the option for me to spend my Miles by booking travel through Capital One Travel so we will have to see if they do the same with the Discover It Cash Back.
Here are my redemption options:

It does currently say that the Miles isn’t eligible to share rewards with my Savor but I don’t have any other cards to be able to check that.
This card always was able to redeem Miles towards travel purchases but never had a travel portal of its own.
I prefer adding the Langley FCU rewards card as the third card. 5% categories change every month with higher caps. Also rounds out gas ti 3%cb
