An economist’s advice on why EV ‘range anxiety’ is overrated. If you are thinking about buying an EV, the faster you can abandon the ‘rational’ way of thinking about ‘filling up’ with petrol, the more relaxed you will be, and the less you will spend ‘topping up’ with electrons.

If you can charge at home. If you don’t usually drive very far. If you don’t do many road trips (or at least are willing to buy a vehicle with a larger battery), then sure. EV range issues aren’t usually an issue. But the key word is usually. There are definitely situations where they are a concern, and those situations stand out because they are concerns you wouldn’t have with an ICE vehicle. The fact of the matter is that EVs still don’t make sense for everyone, particularly if you don’t live in a big city or can’t charge at home.
It’s great until you’re on a long highway and it’s hundreds of km until your next charging stop. Canada is huuuuge.
