I slightly disagree with Don on miners. Some miners are investments. They may be short or medium term investments. They have business's and they have product, that has buyers. I guess it is all in how you define speculation and investing.

"Economic illiteracy". Ya think ? The city council in Toronto that voted for these "cheap" supermarkets is the same council that refuses to use their special tax authority to fully pay the city's bills. Then again, look who they elected for Mayor.

had a friend at work that introduced me to gold. i listened and started my journey. he mentioned Peter Schiff which really helped.
Luv Torex to death … very well managed gold miner … but I dumped it because it's in Mexico and you can get gold miners in Canada wothout the risk … but Torex was a serious money maker and was a long term hold …
The biggest risk I really fear when investing in miners is gov. takeover in one way or another, when the economy tanks
