I currently have a homeowner's insurance policy for a house which is my father's and my residence. However I will soon be going into the military and will not be spending any time physically at the house but it will still technically be my primary residence. My question is would my father's personal property be covered under my current homeowner's policy or would it be prudent to switch to landlord/rental insurance and have him get renters insurance since I won't actually be living on the property 99% of the time?
Edit: Talked to an agent, was able to add my father as a coinhabitant/additional insured on my current policy
Do I need homeowner's or landlord/rental insurance?

Is it possible that you can get support for this question from your command?
You also may want to discuss this with your agent, as they most likely to have the most accurate answer.
You didn’t provide enough information for anyone here to answer your questions.
Depends on the company! Talk to an agent.
Yeah this is definitely talk to an agent territory. Generally deployments don’t affect what is considered your residence premise, but if you fully moved out, it may complicate the matter.
