Purely looking for high spend giving high status that is actually luxurious. For example, the diamond elite status is either 40k spend on the IHG card or 120 nights at IHG

Top spend-to-status plays are usually hotel cards, not airlines. IHG is popular because $40k spend for Diamond is straightforward. Hilton Aspire/Surpass paths can be strong too depending on current offers.
Realistically though, “luxurious” status matters more from actual stay perks than just the badge. Hyatt Globalist earned organically often beats easier paid statuses.
If pure spend is the game: hotel cards > airline cards > business statuses. Airline elite by spend alone usually gets expensive fast.
