When I was younger, there was always a sentiment that it was dangerous to go to China. That you might get snatched up by their authoritarian government. After years of never hearing about folks getting picked up in China, but now seeing the US detaining and holding indefinitely people that don’t look right…feels like the shoe is on the other foot now. *Obligatory ‘Are we the baddies??’ meme*

I find this quite surprising.
To me, the US has now fallen into the same ‘do not visit’ category as China. I’m not going to go to China now just because I no longer wish to visit the US.
