Not sure if this is the right sub for this question but im wondering how hard it is to get into the oil field line of work specifically in the western states
This isn’t the 80s, there’s a lot of automated stuff now that is replacing jobs. Also, there isn’t much extra drilling going on which is where a green person can really step in and work in as a deckhand or something. But there is still stuff out there, you just will be surrounded by Hispanics that barely speak English (not saying its a bad thing) and American guys that have worse spending/budgeting habits than an E4 in the Army. Also, they often use amphetamines and are dicks because of that. And you can get laid off at any time for almost any reason (Trump tweet for example)
