I live in Northeast Georgia and decided last summer to try to lower my electricity bill. I am with Georgia Power, and as most of us know their rates are ridiculous!! I live in a 2400 ft. 2 level home. My budget billing at one point was $400 a month. I have gas heat for winter and gas hot water heater, and a gas stove. Normally I would leave the AC set on 70° in the summer. We spend most of our time in our bedrooms so I purchased three small window unit ACs for each bedroom and I set the house to 76° during the summer. My budget billing is now $300 a month. The AC units were about $150 each. I’m sure $300 a month budget billing sounds high to some people, but please keep in mind. I do have a large bonus room downstairs for my business that I also have a larger window unit in there runs year-round along with a dehumidifier. And I also use my garage in the summer and winter as needed for my business so that’s another window unit and dehumidifier and space heater when needed. I’m just so excited to have knocked $100 off of my monthly bill!! just thought I would share

Using my window unit ACs instead of whole house unit has saved me money

I plan to do the same this season. Window unit keeping the bedroom cold as an igloo, the rest of the house will sit in the upper 70s.
