Took out private loans for my masters in history and honestly its been rough. Interest rates are brutal compared to federal and there’s basically no flexibility if you hit hard times. My program was worth it for me personally but the debt stress is real – would probably look harder at cheaper state schools or programs with better funding if I could go back. The job market in academia isnt exactly booming either so that makes the monthly payments even more stressful
