I recently applied for the Amex bcp card on April 15th and I got approved and then a email that I had a new inquiry, totally expected and completely understood. Today I got another email that says I had a new inquiry and so I went to check my capital one app. It says I have two recent inquiries, one for April 15th and one for April 17th. Idk if it helps, but it says the inquires were at 2 different locations. Now i’m unsure if my credit was pulled twice and if I am going to have a bigger credit drop when the time comes.
– Is that normal to have two inquires for one credit card application for Amex?
– Is my credit going to take a bigger hit?
– Am I overthinking this big time?
It’s my first Amex credit card and I’m very protective of my credit so please let me know if this is normal and or if I should be worried, thank you!
I recently applied for the Amex blue cash preferred card and now it says I have two new inquiries.

If you’ve never had an Amex card before, then *one* hard inquiry is fully expected. Two is not, *unless* they’re on different reports. Amex may sometimes pull two bureaus.
Before freaking out, I’d highly recommend checking your *actual* credit reports to verify. The credit report re-packaging services are usually fine when it comes to presenting your information, but there can absolutely be weird issues. Go to the source; that is, any of Experian, Transunion, or Equifax, depending on your state.
Never hurts to regularly check all three anyway.
Yeah you’re definitely overthinking this one! Amex sometimes does pull from two different bureaus when you apply, especially if it’s your first card with them. They might check both Experian and Equifax or whatever combination they feel like using that day
The credit hit won’t be any worse than normal – multiple inquiries for same type of credit in short timeframe usually get treated as one inquiry anyway. Plus hard pulls aren’t even that scary, maybe 5-10 points max and it bounces back pretty quick
I remember being super paranoid about my credit when I got my first card too, checking it like every other day lol. Two years later and none of those inquiries mattered at all
