Is Universal Income viable?

In the U.S alone there's over three hundred million people. If each person was paid two thousand a month that would be around six hundred billion per month just to provide them with an income.

Granted I dont know much about economics but that seems like an absurdly overwhelming number. So my question is just how possible is it to sustain a population on Universal Income?
