    1. Regularly donate BTC (via my Lightning wallet to their Chivo) to an overstretched dog shelter in El Salvador. Confirmed it was real before donating by visiting there in person and meeting the owner.

      Yeah a couple times, mostly smaller orgs that publish their wallet addresses openly. I usually check if the address has consistent activity and matches what they post elsewhere, that helps avoid random copy paste scams. One thing people miss is transparency on how funds are used, not just that the address is real. I also prefer groups that share updates after donations, even basic ones. Are you looking at bigger charities or smaller grassroots ones?
