I run two connected businesses a hair service and an e-commerce beauty brand I also sell hair extensions. The problem is the service side is really struggling. I have overheads, inconsistent clients, and I can only take bookings 3 days a week. Some months are okay, others are dead like zero clientele sometimes for months. It’s killing my confidence and I’ve been here before with a previous service business. Same pattern, and it eventually broke me down.

Meanwhile my e-commerce side is actually gaining traction on its own.

The other thing I’ll add: I know I still need to invest time in sharpening my craft. But trying to build a clientele and develop a skill and barely break even all at once feels unsustainable.

Do I step back from services and go all-in on e-commerce for now? Or is this just the hard part of client-building that everyone goes through?

Has anyone navigated something similar? Would love honest advice.

Even if you’ve never owned a business please join the discussion I’d love to hear your thoughts 💕💕

Should I drop the service side of my business to focus on e-commerce?

honestly it sounds like one side is draining you and the other is working

      that’s usually your answer

the service side isn’t just “hard”, it’s inconsistent and tied to your time
and you’ve already seen the same pattern before

e-commerce at least has momentum and can scale without you being there

doesn’t mean you have to kill services forever
but stepping back from it and focusing where things are actually moving makes sense

sometimes it’s not about pushing harder
it’s about not fighting the same uphill battle again

also just want to say, nothing here sounds like failure. You’ve already built something that’s working on one side. That’s not easy. Protect that momentum instead of letting the struggling part pull you down with it
