      60% of our produce is imported. No state can grow year round and some produce just doesn’t grow in the US.

      It’s one of the better examples of leveraging productivity too. Almost all farming has very poor productivity, if a larger share of our labor force was devoted to it we would be poorer.

      Years of planting my own tomatoes, buying dirt, watering daily, weeding, tending the plants will finally be worth it this summer when I am the only one in America who will be able to have tomatoes!

      It amazes me that so many Americans do not understand how they have fresh fruits and vegetables from late Autumn though Winter to late Spring. Like they never heard of Chilean Grapes that have been around since the 1980’s. Or about Tilapia. And that most fresh cut flowers in local floral shops are not grown in the USA.
