Outside of the big four banks (Chase, BofA, Citi, Wells Fargo) and AmEx and Capital One, who would you say is the credit card issuer that surprised you the most in terms of the value of their card offerings, quality of their service, etc.? Any hidden gems or overlooked ones?
Which credit card issuer would you call underrated?

HAHA I do feel like this is almost directed at my last post
I know for sure AMEX is overrated.
I think BofA has been underrated because people don’t see how easy it is to get value out Platinum Honors.
If this PNC loyalty rewards thing is true to what they announced, and it’s theoretically possible to net an unlimited 2.7% cashback on everything, then I’d say that’s pretty underrated.
I’ve never heard much about PNC in the first place, and what I have heard hasn’t been glowing, though. I still have much more faith in them than Robinhood/Coastal Community Bank in the long run.
US Bank has been good to me. Payment made from their checking is instant and I like the layout. It shows everything together. Their CC are pretty good too.
Always thought it was funny that Wells and Fargo founded American Express first, before starting up their namesake.
I think Wells Fargo is the underrated one. For someone who mainly travels domestically or is more interested in cash back, the Autograph/Journey and Active Cash are very strong keeper cards, and not talked about as much compared to the Sapphire Preferred/Freedom Unlimited. Points have full cash value, there are automatic redemption options, no portal games required and some decent transfer partners.
Their co-branded One Key+ card is also very interesting. 2x on everything, 3x on dining, groceries, gas. Pre-Check/Global Entry, no foreign transaction fee, $99 fee but they give you 100 “OneKeyCash” back on each anniversary. Only problem is that the earnings are all in Expedia funny money that has no cash value, but it’s a pretty good option for someone that uses Expedia and doesn’t want to have more than one card in their wallet.
I think Wells Fargo is the most underrated and I do not have any of their cards.
Disclosure: Main spend is at BofA.
I use to consider U.S. Bank underrated until they nerfed the U.S. Altitudes Reserve into the ground.
