I have stocks in NBIS and Iren and there are a lot of mentions about "photonics" since copper interconnect is the bottleneck for AI hyperscaler.
Started doing some digging and Cisco, Marvell, Credo, Astera labs, Coherent, Lumentum, Nokia, Macom, and Intel are some of the major companies that have hand in "photonics" and have since sky rocketed in the past year or even months, gaining 2-3 times.
Is it too late to get into these stocks? Do you guys think there is still room or would it be a bad move buying them now?

The sector is just getting fired up. SIVEF is my latest fav
Late
Depends on how fast and how much market share photonics takes. Copper isnโt going to be phased anytime soon.
Been watching this space for a while and the AI infrastructure buildout is still in early stages tbh. The hyperscalers are throwing crazy money at anything that can handle the data bottlenecks and photonics is basically the only solution that scales ๐ฅ
Sure these stocks ran up hard but when you look at projected data center spending over next 3-5 years, there’s probably still room to run. Just maybe don’t YOLO your entire portfolio into it since valuations are getting pretty spicy ๐
Well, judging by context, you’d know well about the rise and fall of datacenter stocks last year, and then the eventual re-rating of lately. When wall streets figured out H100s are actually appreciating in value and AI is not going anywhere unlike Michael Burry said.
We will probably have up and down with photonics thematics too, and gun to my head we are closer to local top than bottom (yes I own those names in LT account too). However the problem they solve is real and I have no doubt they will be much higher than where they are right now in long term.
