Still no communication from other driver after over two years

California. I was at fault for an accident at the end of 2023. Didn't hear anything from the other driver for two years. I have good coverage and my insurer will rep me, of course. The other party filed a suit against me to extend the time limit (I only know because I searched county records), but they still have not communicated with my insurer or me – nothing. I have never been in this situation, so it's scary to me – not knowing what's going on. No demand letter, nothing. There's a settlement conference scheduled for fall – are they waiting until then? How would a judge view them being completely silent for over two years?
